Designated Wanderlust Destination 2025

The Ministry of Tourism informed this Friday that Ecuador was designated as Wanderlust 2025 Destination of the Year, a news that marks a milestone in the international projection of the country as a site of tourist interest.

This recognition comes in the form of a publication in Wanderlust, the UK's leading travel magazine, which has a print circulation of nearly 77,000 copies per issue and a combined readership of over 345,000 in print and digital formats in more than 70 countries around the world, including three of the top priority markets for EcuadorUnited Kingdom, United States and Canada.

In addition to the designation as Destination of the Year, other initiatives of great promotional value include the publication of a 160-page bookazine on Ecuador, aimed at the European market, and the creation of an exclusive microsite within the Wanderlust digital portal.

The Minister of Tourism, Mateo Estrella, explained that “Wanderlust has been able to connect with a type of traveler who values authenticity, connection with nature and transformative experiences.. Y Ecuador, with its biodiversity, its cultural richness, its unique heritage and the warmth of its people, is the ideal destination for those who are looking for much more than just a place to visit: they are looking for a place to feel, to discover and to learn.”. He also assured that “these contents will be strategic tools that will allow us to take the country's image even further, with narrative, photography and experiences that reflect the essence of Ecuador”.”.

George Kipouros, editor-in-chief of Wanderlust, noted that this is the first time Ecuador has been named destination of the year since the publication's inception in 1994 and that it was precisely the country whose diversity inspired the creation of the travel magazine as a means of promoting destinations around the world. “Ecuador is open, Ecuador welcomes you. Ecuador is a safe country to visit. This is the best time to travel to Ecuador”he assured.
