Bolivia aspires to become the world's most desirable travel destination: nominated for the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2025
La Paz, August 4, 2025 (Unicom-MDPyEP) - Bolivia has been officially nominated for the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2025 in the «World's Most Desirable Emerging Destination» category, consolidating its position as one of the countries with the greatest international projection in the global tourism sector.
With the aim of strengthening this candidacy, the Vice Minister of Tourism, Hiver Flores, presented this Monday the campaign “Vote for Bolivia!”, an initiative that invites citizens inside and outside the country to support with their vote through the official site of the British magazine Wanderlust: www.wanderlustmagazine.com
Voting can also be accessed by scanning the QR code available on the promotional materials. Once on the site, simply click on “Vote Now”, scroll down, fill out the form with name, e-mail address and country of residence, and then press “Enter” to start the process. Questions 2 through 9 are free choice. To support Bolivia, For questions 10 to 15, it is important to select the country. Questions 16 to 18 are optional and can be completed according to personal preference. Finally, click on “Enter” to submit your vote. Voting will be open until October 17, 2025.
The Wanderlust Travel Awards, organized by the renowned travel magazine Wanderlust, are considered among the most influential travel awards in the United Kingdom. In its 24th edition, more than 200,000 individual voters are expected to participate, making this one of the most fiercely contested competitions in the industry.
During the launching ceremony of the campaign, which was attended by authorities, representatives of the academic sector, tour operators and the media, Vice Minister Flores said that “this nomination is a unique opportunity to show the world who we are. It is not only a recognition, but also a collective drive to position Bolivia as a tourism power, based on its authenticity, cultural diversity, natural wealth and the warmth of its people. Flores also emphasized that this achievement is the result of the joint work of communities, entrepreneurs, institutions and universities that, day by day, preserve the country's identity and heritage.
“This nomination did not fall from the sky. It is the result of the silent but constant effort of those who protect the most valuable thing we have: our nature, our living culture and our history”. The Vice Minister thanked the commitment of the academic sector, mentioning universities such as UMSA, UPEA, UNIFRANZ, Universidad Gabriel René Moreno, Universidad Tomás Frías de Potosí, Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca and UTB, which have mobilized hundreds of tourism students, now turned into active ambassadors of this national crusade.
